A renovation of an 1880's New Amsterdam style row house in Boston's Fort Hill. This brick building was built in 1888 as a single-family home but more recently was sectioned off as four different apartments. In the last 30 years, there have been several unfortunate changes which compartmentalized most of the rooms in the house. Our goal was to take advantage of the original post and beam construction, opening up the floor plan, and making two 2,000 square foot apartments.
The first phase involved renovating the top two floors, making a three bedroom and two bath apartment with a large open kitchen/dining space.
The second phase involved renovating the bottom two floors, refinishing the original woodwork, and gutting the kitchen and bathrooms, and reconfiguring three bedrooms.
